To top it off, I rarely feel the 'rhythm' in rhythm games, feels more like the game is separate from the music.Ĭompare this, in which a song is just on the background and your only way to know what to do is to pay attention to the visual aspect of it, which detracts from the music video, to THIS, in which the 'noise' you make when you get something right is actually part of the song, and not something separated. I mean, in most rhythm games it's just a background song with some imposed input from the player that doesn't really change the song and more often than not even adds an annoying sound to it. What makes rhythm heaven so unique compared to something like the hatsune miku games is that all the music is done specifically for the game, and you are actually part of the music. It really went downhill in terms of sales and Fever sold extremely poorly as well despite being on the most popular console of its generation. The original DS game had an ad with freaking Beyonce of all people, and yet the latest entry, Megamix, is exclusive to the eShop. I'm a huge fanboy of Rhythm Heaven despite not liking Rhythm games in general and I wish it was more popular. It's time to kick back!
